Psychologist

Bachelor of Arts (Psychology & English)
Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
Master of Arts (Clinical Psychology)

Tony received his psychology qualifications in South Africa and began his career in 2011, working at a psychiatric / forensic hospital as an intern. Later his main focus became traumatic brain injury / PTSD assessments for clients who were involved in road accidents or were the victims of violent crime. In 2015, Tony came to Australia and for the past 5 years has worked in the out-of-home-care sector with young people who experienced complex trauma and abuse.

These days Tony provides therapy to young people and adults experiencing depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. He's very interested in assisting clients experience release from their anxiety or stress and taking charge of their emotions. Tony does this by helping clients focus on the language they use when talking or thinking about their lives as well as the stories they tell themselves and others. By adjusting our language and thinking, we can adjust our emotions and behaviour.

Tony's style of therapy is all about curiosity and acceptance. There will be some challenging questions asked as no change happens automatically, but there will not be judgement. Coming from South Africa, cross-cultural psychology was a big part of his training and he's yet to meet someone he can’t relate to.
